New Manchester Clinic

We are really excited to be able to announce that we are starting a new satellite clinic in central Manchester in July 2021. Our much loved and longstanding clinician Dr Emily Cudworth will be heading our Manchester space, offering face to face sessions to adults with eating disorders.

The Manchester clinic will run alongside our two London clinics in Margaret Street and Richmond-upon-Thames, and will bring expert, psychology-led eating disorder care to the North of England.

Treatment options available will include Specialist Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT-E), Schema Informed Therapy, Specialist Supportive Psychotherapy and Maudsley Model of Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa for Adults (MANTRA). As with our London clinics, this will be supported by access to specialist dietetics, practical support led by our specialist Occupational Therapist and family support, education and guidance.

Dr Bryony Bamford, Founder and Director of The London Centre, said of this new move:

“The pandemic has had an extremely worrying impact on eating disorders, and people of all ages are experiencing both the onset or worsening of disordered eating at higher rates than ever before. Throughout the last 18 months we have really heard from people how difficult it is to access specialist therapy for eating disorders both within, but especially outside of London. Eating disorders are a unique psychological presentation and really must be treated by specialist therapists who have had training, experience and access to specialist supervision. We are extremely proud to be able to offer this in an area outside of London for the first time, and look forward to building a close network with other professionals in and around the Manchester area.”

Dr Emily Cudworth, who will be leading this new move, lived close to Manchester as both a child and a trainee psychologist. She is really excited to be heading back to a place that is close to her heart, and to be able to offer specialist eating disorder therapy in this new location.
