Specialist Counselling Psychologist and Integrative Psychotherapist
Biography
I am a Counselling Psychologist and Psychotherapist with 8 years of clinical experience.
At the heart of my approach – as both a Psychotherapist and a Psychologist – is a warm, compassionate, and non-judgmental way of being, which I believe is fundamental to creating a safe and trusting therapeutic relationship for change and personal growth to occur.
I have a breadth of experience from practicing in a variety of settings, including an NHS eating disorder service, in my own private practice, in-house at large corporates, and in the voluntary sector. I am dedicated to supporting people with all kinds of emotional and psychological difficulties and I am passionate about working with people with eating disorders and body image concerns for both personal and professional reasons.
My primary approach when working with eating disorders is Cognitive Behavioural Therapy or CBT-E, however I also draw upon Compassion Focused Therapy, mindfulness-based approaches, and psychodynamic psychotherapy. I view the therapeutic process as collaborative and a journey that we take together. My commitment is to work alongside you so that you feel safe and supported, gain insight and understanding about yourself and your condition, and develop ways to manage and loosen the negative hold of food, eating and body concerns in your life. Although beginning therapy for an eating disorder can be scary, with courage and the right kind of support I truly believe in the possibility of healing, recovery, and a more fulfilling life.
When I’m not working I am most likely on a tennis court, dog walking, listening to music, gardening, or watching cricket – all of which I find to be therapeutic in their own unique ways!
