Eating Disorder Referrals – Resources for Health Professionals

This page provides information for health professionals seeking clear referral pathways, specialist consultation, and collaborative care for individuals experiencing eating disorders or body image difficulties. The London Centre offers multidisciplinary outpatient treatment and assessment for children, adolescents and adults. We aim to make eating disorder referrals straightforward, responsive, and clinically supported, ensuring continuity of care and clear communication with referrers.

Eating Disorder Referrals

Health professionals can refer patients to The London Centre for specialist outpatient assessment and treatment of eating disorders and related difficulties.

Referrals are welcome from GPs, psychiatrists, psychologists, dietitians, nurses and other allied health professionals. We accept referrals for individuals experiencing a range of eating disorders, including anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, ARFID, OSFED, and complex body image difficulties.

To support an effective referral and appropriate clinical triage, we encourage referrers to include the following information where available:

  • Current or suspected diagnosis
  • Height, weight, and BMI
  • Relevant medical or psychiatric history
  • Eating and weight history
  • Current risk concerns (e.g., rapid weight loss, purging behaviours, medical instability)
  • Current medications and previous treatment history

Referrals can be made through several pathways:

  • Secure referral email
  • Telephone discussion with our clinical team

Following assessment, we provide clear recommendations and feedback to referrers where appropriate, supporting coordinated care and informed treatment planning.
