Fast Track

Book a Fast-Track Specialist Eating Disorder Assessment

A 60-minute specialist assessment with a member of our clinical team – available online with appointments typically offered within days.

What is a Fast-Track Assessment?

A fast-track assessment is a comprehensive specialist evaluation with an experienced eating disorder clinician. It is not a therapy session; it is the clinical starting point for understanding what you are experiencing and what kind of support is most likely to help.

What’s included:

  • A 60-minute consultation with a specialist psychologist or therapist
  • A thorough exploration of your current difficulties, history and goals
  • A clear summary of the assessment outcome and clinical recommendations
  • A personalised treatment plan, including therapy type, frequency and format
  • Guidance on next steps – whether that is treatment at TLC, onward referral or further investigation

What Happens at Your Assessment

Step 1: Book and pay. Choose a date and time using the online booking system. You will receive email confirmation within minutes.

Step 2: Pre-assessment form. Before your appointment, we will send a short intake form asking about your current difficulties, relevant history and what you are hoping to get from the assessment. Completing this in advance means your clinician can make the most of your time together.

Step 3: Your consultation. Your 60-minute assessment is a supportive, structured conversation – not a test. Your clinician will explore what you are experiencing, how it is affecting your life, and what has or hasn’t helped before. There is space to ask questions, and the pace is guided by you.

Step 4: Outcome and next steps. Following your assessment, we will give you a clear recommendation of suggested next steps and treatment options. This may be provided during your assessment or provided in writing after your assessment; following further conversation with the team.  If treatment at TLC is appropriate, your clinician will outline what that looks like, including recommendations for therapy and any other necessary medical or dietetic input. If a different pathway would be more suitable, we will guide you accordingly and continue to support you until an appropriate treatment plan is in place.

Who is Fast Track For?

Fast-track is for you if:

  • You are concerned about your eating, body image or your relationship with food and want a specialist opinion
  • You would rather not wait for an NHS referral or want a second opinion alongside existing care
  • You have been referred by a GP, psychiatrist or another professional
  • You are a parent or carer seeking an assessment for a young person or wanting to discuss your concerns with a professional prior to an assessment.
  • You have had treatment before and want to understand what a different approach might offer

Fast-track may not be the right fit if:

  • You are in immediate physical danger or medical crisis. Please contact your GP, call 111 or attend A&E
  • You are unsure whether an assessment is the right next step. Contact our team and we can talk it through with you before you book
  • You have already had an assessment with us or elsewhere and are looking to start a specific treatment approach. We can advise on the best person for you to see when you get in touch

Fast-track assessments are charged at £225. Follow-up fees vary depending on the clinician you see. Full pricing is available on our fees page.

The fee covers the full 60-minute specialist consultation with a specialist eating disorder clinician as well as recommendations for next steps.

Wondering whether specialist care is worth this investment? We have answered that question honestly in our guide: Is Specialist Eating Disorder Therapy Worth the Cost? This opens in a new tab – your booking session will be kept open.

Insurance, Funding and Payment

We are recognised by some, but not all, UK private health insurers. In certain cases, we are able to invoice insurers directly; however, all communication with your insurer – including confirming cover, obtaining pre-authorisation, and understanding the terms of your policy – remains your responsibility.

If you are planning to use private health insurance, we strongly recommend contacting us prior to booking so we can confirm whether we are able to work with your provider. You will also need to check directly with your insurer that your policy covers the full cost of our fees, as this will depend on your individual level of cover. Please note that any shortfall between what your insurer reimburses and our fees remains your responsibility.

Fast-track assessment appointments require payment at the time of booking and are not suitable for those intending to use insurance, as reimbursement is at the discretion of your insurer.
Recognised providers include Cigna, WPA, Bupa Global, Healix and others.
If you are self-funding, payment can be made securely via the booking system below. In some cases, you may be able to reclaim costs from your insurer, but this is dependent on your individual policy and should be confirmed directly with your provider.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fast-track appointments are typically available within a few working days, and in some cases, same-day appointments are available. The more flexibility you can offer with your availability, the sooner we can arrange your assessment.

You do not need a diagnosis to book an assessment. If your relationship with food, eating or body image is affecting your life, that is reason enough to seek a specialist opinion. The purpose of the assessment is to help clarify what is happening and what would help.

Yes. Online assessments follow the same clinical standards as in-person appointments. Many of our clients choose online for flexibility or because they are based outside London.

Your clinician will provide a written summary and personalised recommendation. If treatment at TLC is appropriate, we will outline what that involves — including therapy approach, estimated sessions and format. If a different pathway would suit you better, we will guide you accordingly.
