Biography

I am a Senior Clinical Psychologist, accredited by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I am a member of the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapies and a Fellow of the Academy of Eating Disorders. I have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from University College London and a PhD from the University of London (Institute of Psychiatry). I now have over 25 years experience working with people with eating disorders, both in clinical and research settings.

I am passionate about using evidence based therapies (therapies research has proven to work), to help people with eating disorders to recover and reclaim their lives. I have expertise in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Maudsley Anorexia Nervosa Treatment for Adults (MANTRA), Specialist Supportive Clinical Management (SSCM) and Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET).
In addition to my private work, I am employed in a senior NHS role working with clients with eating disorders and at UCL as Professor of the Psychology of Eating Disorders. I am also the Programme Director of two postgraduate training courses at UCL for CBT for Eating Disorders. I was a Core Member of the 2017 NICE Guideline Development Group for Eating Disorders (https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/ng69)
