Olivia Ponsford
Trainee Counselling Psychologist
Biography
I am a Trainee Counselling Psychologist currently completing a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology at City St. Georges University. My approach is holistic and person-centred, where I aim to create a safe, supportive space for clients to feel genuinely heard and understood. I mainly work using CBT and adapt my approaches to fit my client’s needs.
At the start of my career, I volunteered in an inpatient eating disorder service, which gave me a real insight into the strength and courage it takes to go through recovery. Since then, I’ve been passionate about supporting individuals and families on that journey.
I’ve gained experience supporting children and young people with eating disorders, delivering Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Enhanced and Family-Based Treatment for Anorexia Nervosa. I’ve also worked with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and other mental health challenges. I strongly believe in early intervention and making sure individuals feel supported right from the beginning. I also have a strong interest in Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) and its development with research and treatment options for individuals affected.
When I’m not at work, you’ll probably find me on the rugby pitch or out exploring new parts of London!
