Biography
I completed my Chartership training at Roehampton University, where I trained to become a Chartered Counselling Psychologist (BPS). I obtained extensive training in the three modalities; Psychodynamic, Person Centred and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Throughout my training and previous research, I found CBT to be a very effective method of therapy in assisting change in clients, notwithstanding including a humanistic stance at the core of my therapeutic approach.
During my training and post training, I worked in Mind Mental Health Charity, which offered low cost therapy to the community, as well as a NHS GP Surgery, where I worked with a wide range of mental health problems, including depression, relationship issues, anxiety disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), health anxiety, panic disorder, social anxiety, phobias and more.
I have since trained in Schema Therapy and Eating Disorder Therapy, which has become my special interest area; eating disorders; body image issues, low self-esteem and emotional regulation. I work in Nightingale Hospital in the Eating Disorder Unit, both in inpatient and outpatient treatment, since 2014 and I joined The London Centre for Eating Disorders & Body Image in 2021.
My approach remains humanistic at the core, while using CBT-E techniques, which are tailored to the specific eating problem and the clients needs. Likewise, I use Schema Therapy in many client presentations when deemed helpful. Schema Therapy can be helpful in changing long term negative thinking patterns.
I offer a safe, confidential space for clients to explore and reflect on emotional and behavioural issues. Collaboratively working with the client, increasing self awareness, teaching coping strategies and techniques that help the client to independently overcome their issues.
