Biography
Eating disorders became my area of interest at the end of my training in clinical psychology (Italy), when I moved to London to study family therapy at the Maudsley. Working in this field has been a humbling and gratifying journey that taught me that resources and strengths can be found anywhere even when they are not obvious. There is a huge amount of evidence and research that demonstrates the effectiveness of family based therapeutic approaches within the treatment of eating disorders, and this often reminds me that the strength and power in the relationships within families and support networks can support and enable people in their full recovery.
When I work with individuals, I draw on different clinical models and strive to maintain a collaborative and inclusive practice. I find that eating disorders are often used as attempted coping strategies to help people cope with meaningful life transitions and events. Clients can really benefit from tailored and individualised treatments helping them to develop an understanding of their condition from an existential and holistic perspective.
In the last 10+ years I have worked across different NHS services both in inpatient and outpatient settings and more recently, I have become interested in teaching and supervision both nationally and internationally. I am a clinical supervisor at University College of London for the Master in CBT for Eating Disorders and I feel very excited to be helping the next generation of therapists.
In addition to the London Centre, I work in the NHS at West Middlesex Hospital for the paediatric diabetes team.
At the London Centre for Eating Disorders I will see primarily children, young people, young adults and their carers, however I am also trained in working with adults.
When I am not at work, I love spending time with my family, travelling, being a wife, mum, daughter, sister and auntie.
