Biography

I am a HCPC registered Specialist Clinical Psychologist, having completed my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University College London. I have spent over ten years employed within NHS and private mental health care teams, working alongside both children and adults.

Eating Disorders can have a significant impact on physical health and psychological wellbeing, detracting from relationships, interfering with education or work, and negatively affecting quality of life. I am passionate about effective therapies that allow people to lead happier and more fulfilling lives.

I am particularly interested in early detection and intervention, which has fuelled my desire to specialise in working with children, adolescents, young adults, and their families. Given that no individual or family is alike, my approach to therapy is characterised by the use of evidence-based treatments that are thoughtfully tailored to the needs of each person. I use approaches shown by research to be effective, such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy – Enhanced (CBT-E), Adolescent Focused Therapy for Anorexia Nervosa (AFT-AN) and Family Based Treatment (FBT), while also drawing upon my knowledge of other psychological models, to ensure that treatment is a good fit.

Therapy is undoubtedly hard work and therefore a trusting and secure therapeutic relationship is key. I always aim to bring warmth, empathy, and optimism to sessions, while also offering a gentle push when needed, and remaining change-orientated.
Outside of work I am happiest when spending time with friends and family; that said, I can often be found with my head buried in a book or thoroughly absorbed in a good TV series!
