Specialist Counselling Psychologist

Biography

I am a HCPC registered Counselling Psychologist I’m a Counselling Psychologist dedicated to helping individuals who have experienced trauma, eating disorders, and emotion dysregulation. Through my clinical work and research, I have seen how eating disorders can deeply affect individuals and their families. Importantly, I have also observed the positive outcomes that can arise from receiving specialised support. My interest in this field stems from the opportunity to support clients in nurturing self-compassion and cultivating a more positive relationship with food and their bodies.

I have worked with children, young people and adults experiencing eating disorders for seven years, both in the NHS and private settings. My experience includes supporting clients with anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and other types of disordered eating, often in the context of co-occurring difficulties like trauma, anxiety, and emotional dysregulation. My work has involved multidisciplinary collaboration in both individual and family-based interventions. I also work closely with parents and carers, equipping them with the tools to support their loved ones.

Clients can expect a warm, collaborative, and non-judgmental space where they feel truly heard. My therapeutic style is integrative, drawing on evidence-based approaches like Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and Compassion-Focused Therapy, as well as trauma-informed techniques such as DBT-Prolonged Exposure Protocol. I believe therapy should be tailored to each person’s needs, and I work alongside my clients to help them gain greater self-awareness and develop practical skills for long-term change.

I’m particularly passionate about facilitating access to evidence-based early intervention treatments and trauma-informed care. Many individuals I work with have struggled for years before being able to access help. I hope to help change that.
In the future, I hope to see greater ease of access to specialist, evidence-based treatments for eating disorders, particularly in early intervention services.

When I’m not working, I love spending time in nature with my dogs, reading, ice skating and dancing.
