Christina de Beukelaar

Lead Specialist Dietitian

Biography

Christina de Beukelaar is a highly experienced specialist dietitian with over 15 years of clinical experience in eating disorders across a range of specialist inpatient and outpatient services, both within the NHS and in private practice.

She completed her degree in Nutrition and Dietetics in Belgium and is registered with both the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and the British Dietetic Association (BDA). Throughout her career she has gained broad dietetic experience across paediatrics, adult services, sports nutrition, mental health, and acute inpatient care before specialising in eating disorders.

Christina supports the full spectrum of eating disorders and disordered eating, she also has extensive experience supporting both children and adults with Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID). Alongside her clinical work, she has contributed to the development of ARFID care pathways and provides training and consultation to healthcare teams, helping clinicians build the knowledge and confidence needed to deliver effective, evidence-based nutritional care. Her work bridges practical dietetic expertise with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by both patients and clinicians.

In addition to her clinical practice, she offers professional supervision to dietitians and nutritionists working in the field, ensuring she remains engaged with the most up-to-date clinical knowledge and practice.
Supporting individuals in their recovery from eating disorders is central to her work. She collaborates closely with each client to develop an individualised nutritional plan that ensures the body receives the nutrients it needs for metabolic health and long-term wellbeing. At the same time, she recognises that changes to eating patterns and weight can evoke significant anxiety and fear. Compassionate and practical support is provided to help clients build confidence with food, develop a clearer understanding of their body’s nutritional needs, and move towards meaningful and sustainable behaviour change.

She is also mindful that difficulties around food and weight can affect relationships, social situations, and daily life. Together with clients, realistic and achievable goals are set to support recovery within the context of their everyday lives.
