BA (hons), MSc, Specialist Psychological Therapist

Biography

I have just completed training as a Counselling Psychologist on the professional doctorate programme at London Metropolitan University. I work in an integrative way, drawing on many different techniques and therapeutic models to ensure that the clients I am working with receive treatment that is right for them. Humanistic values underpin my practice. I believe in seeing the individual as a whole person and not purely their diagnosis and I am passionate about building a strong collaborative therapeutic working relationship.

Having worked in IAPT for two years I have experience of working with a variety of mental health difficulties including PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders and low self-esteem using CBT and integrative counselling methods. In my previous training and 10-year career as a primary school teacher I have a lot of experience in supporting young people and their families, with a range of challenges including autism, ADHD, behavioural difficulties and children who are in care. As a member of the LGBTQ+ community myself I have a particular interest in providing a safe space for all clients and as part of my doctoral research I am looking into transgender relationship experiences. Outside of work I enjoy playing in a women’s football team, swimming, and walking (or being walked) by my French bulldog.
