Amy Chisholm

PG Dip Clin Psych, PG Dip CBT, MA (Psych), Specialist Clinical Psychologist

Biography

I am an experienced Clinical Psychologist who has worked in mental health settings since 2003. I have been a registered Clinical Psychologist since I completed training in New Zealand in February 2009. I am also a trained EMDR practitioner, and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT) practitioner.

I moved to the UK in 2012 and have worked for many years as a Senior Clinical Psychologist in the NHS, in both specialist Eating Disorders services and Trauma services. I am regularly involved in training and supervising colleagues working with a range of adult mental health problems.

I work as an integrative and evidence based trauma-informed therapist. I will get to know you as a person and aim to understand what matters to you and what is keeping you stuck from living the life you hope for. I will use strategies that are known to work, to help you get unstuck and reach your goals. I have often been described as a caring and perceptive therapist. I aim to listen with understanding, and help find practical solutions for you.

I particularly enjoy working with people struggling with eating disorders and body image problems as I see how common these problems are, and have also seen time and again how people can get away from the snare of an eating disorder by making pointed changes with the ways of thinking and acting that really matter. I know that eating disorder therapy works, and enjoy helping people discover this for themselves.
